UMPIRES COURSE
Please see
also read: 'TEAM UMPIRES POLICY 2003'
With effect
from the start of the 2003-2004 season, all teams will be
required to have two members/representatives who are qualified
to at least
HKCA Level One Umpire standard. Any team failing this requirement
will not
be allowed to participate in HKCA competitions.
To facilitate
this, Mr. Alan Swift will conduct umpires courses at the HKCC
and teams are now requested to nominate a maximum of three
candidates to
attend either Group One or Group Two. The course will be in two parts
followed by a written test. Successful candidates will receive HKCA
Level
One Umpire certification.

It is understood
that some teams already have 'qualified' members. However,
the HKCA only recognises the following umpiring qualifications: Certified
Qualification from ACU&S (UK), ACC, HKACU&S or any other
recognised cricket authority (proof may be required).
Those members
who have previously attended one of Alan's courses during the
past three years are not required to attend again, but THEY
WILL BE REQUIRED
TO PASS THE WRITTEN TEST.
I strongly
recommend that ALL teams take maximum advantage of this
opportunity in the interests of local cricket!
This training
will be provided free of charge and will include reference
material.
Addressees are to forward their nominations by Email
to the HKCA Office
before 30th May 2003. Candidates' contact details and
Email address are to
be included.
Allocation
to Group/date will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
Any queries should be adreessed to the undersigned
or Ron Brierly at the
HKCA Office (Tel: 2504 8102).
With Best
Wishes,
Clive Howard.
